In a muddy field, quite nearby….

During the long hot summer we created a cider drinkers hangout to embody the Kopparberg name. A giant Copper mountain rose in a field in Mudchute for a truly experiential event.

Guests could climb through the structure, exploring playful touches along the way and visiting secret bars for refreshment. If they felt brave they could slide back down the 5m tunnel slide.

There was a lookout post for those wanting to take in the panorama.

New Year New Tech

HAPPY NEW YEAR and welcome to 2019, the office and workshop are back open and hitting the ground running this year. We have 2 builds underway and a full team in slaving away to get sets ready for London and Paris installations.

We are starting 2019 with a massive injection of new technology into our building as part of a major upgrade.

The whole warehouse will be equipped throughout with LED lights, allowing us to work on intricate projects whatever the weather or time of day. The installation will react to light levels and motion to give us an environmentally friendly and cost efficient lighting system.

This has been coupled with a new fire alarm system, new gates and fencing, to give you confidence that your sets are protected while they are stored here or under construction.

As well as general renovation we are also working on an upgraded housekeeping systems as part of our ISO review. This will be a continual process to improve efficiency and Health and Safety throughout the workshop.

We also have a new IT support partner in ROCK IT to help us upgrade all the office support systems and enable us to get back to you as fast as possible. There will soon be dedicated broadband to improve upload speeds and new software to support quoting and invoicing. This will allow us to take card payments for Helix3d and The Bar Bazaar.

We are also launching a new Events Basics range, for Bar Bazaar and Helix customers, to select simple core items at a very competitive cost but produced to the normal Helix high standard.

These will include steel deck staging, flattage, treads, plinths, lecterns and much more to help you meet tight budgets and reduce wastage. Great for your green credentials and your pocket.

Obviously we are loving all the extra training involved but it is very exciting to see the fruits of so much investment and planning coming together.

If you want to come down and see all the new improvements or just pop in for a cup of tea give us a call on 02083114477.

Certification and improvement

As part of our drive to constantly improve our service to clients we have undertaken ISO certification this year in 4 key areas: Quality Management, Occupational Health and Safety Management, Environmental Management and Event Sustainability Management. It will be an ongoing process of improvement as the company grows.

We also now have a state of the art, low energy, lighting system to help us operate safely, at any time of day or night, whilst using minimal energy.

We are revamping our whole workshop to improve efficiency and safety throughout, so you may spot some new developments when you visit.

The upgrade continues in the office with new team members, new software systems, card payment system and new event hire elements available very soon.

2019 looks like being a busy year so we are pulling out all the stops to be ready.

Business as usual while we renovate

Excuse the smell of paint while we update our workshop. The building is getting a thorough spring clean (yes we know it’s Autumn but we have to grab any quiet moments between live projects) and then a major overhaul.

Apart from finding all the lost tools and streamlining our storage systems we are making plans for new equipment to help us deliver even more exciting builds.

So watch this space, and next time you come down we’ll give you a tour of all the new develpoments. Don’t leave it too long though, you might not recognise the place!

Milan Upon Thames

When you order a takeaway do you think about its origins?

Deliveroo decided to put customers in touch with the essence of their favourite dish so we helped them bring Milan to the South Bank.

They asked “Ever had an Italian with an Italian?” We made it happen when we built the world’s first virtual dining experience #MilanUponThames. Together with Deliveroo our build connected foodies in London with friends old and new in Milan.

So, having pre built a tiny slice of Milan at our workshop, we transported it to Observation Point on London’s South Bank and set up an unusual date.

On a glorious sunny day the tiny restaurant waited for its first customers.

50 Golden years for Captain Birdseye

To mark 50 years of their iconic fisherman Birdseye and Mischief PR commissioned a statue to use in promotional activity.

From initial working sketches and reference photos of handy crew members a plan for Captain Birdseye’s anniversary statue came together.

Using clay, polystyrene, steel armature and jesmonite the figure was moulded and then hand finished. He was mounted on a timber plinth and the final painting could begin.

He seemed pretty happy about his latest incarnation.

Then everything was set for the short trip to the Cutty Sark and his adoring public.

Slide into Spring

Now being installed for its second year, visitors to Trinity Leeds Shopping Centre can have a seriously swift ride.

In 2016 it formed the centrepiece of the Slide into Spring promotion and drew plenty of attention and visitors.

The 30ft helterskelter delivers visitors from the balcony to the level below in record time.

It was such a sucess they have created a summer event called Club Trinity. The slide forms the focus for a whole series of promotionla events.
