Charge hand required for our young, vibrant and expanding scenery workshop based in Woolwich SE28.

Skills and experience required;

• Experience of managing small teams of people when under pressure.
• Experience working with wood, metal, plastics and fabric.
• Ability to break drawings down, delegating jobs, quickly and efficiently.
• In-depth knowledge of film, TV, theatre, shop fitting, events and exhibition construction practices.
• Experience with plant, cherry picker, forklift, 7.5 T license.
• Artistic flair with ability to interpret brief without drawings if necessary.
• Experience of prop making, laminating, plaster brick and vac forming.
• In-depth knowledge of paint finishes.
• Knowledge of quoting and a good understanding of labour and material costs.
• Computer literacy including basic knowledge of Auto-Cad.
• Excellent verbal communication skills.
• A strong constitution, optimistic outlook with an energetic approach to pushing ahead until the job is done.
• A good sense of humour.

Duties to include;

• Turning up ready for work at 7.00am on time and without fail, setting a good a example to other staff.
• Managing workshop and staff including maintenance, stock, H&S.
• Managing projects from drawings through to completed installation under foreman’s supervision.
• Liaison with clients onsite.
• Managing multi skilled teams of between 2 and 10 people.
• Quality control of production from start to finish.
• Completing often demanding jobs on time on budget, to a high standard.
• Working late, weekends and abroad when necessary.
