WORSHIP STREET
Once in a blue moon a project comes along which has no boundaries, for a client with limitless vision, cue Worship St centre stage. The project brief was to refit a 16,000 Sq Ft Victorian print works in East London creating a self contained community. The project included the design, prefabrication and installation of myriad elements including a tree house, a waterfall, an American diner, a derelict building, a waterfall, a cinema, a green room, a bunker, a military dormitory, a recording studio and a church!
01
Phase one
We began the design for this project with loose sketches of the ideas which were on the table. We looked at ways of incorporating everything into a whole which would hang together. Our creative and open approach allowed our client to feel in control of everything even though there were 30 plus individual elements.
02
phase two
Our production facilities allowed us to prefabricate elements off site, then deliver and install them quickly. Our structural engineer was always on hand to work out clever ways to achieve the impossible. The tree house for example was a cantilevered structure, woven into the existing roof structure without imposing any additional load to the building. Our artistic approach also enabled us to make the tree house appear to be much bigger than the existing roof truss would allow.
03
phase three
Our fast paced production meant we could work our way through the building applying finishes and signing elements off in a linear way from front to back. The entire installation took 16 weeks start to finish and was ready for our client's staff to move in and start work immediately. The installation has been able to withstand the rigours of constant use and still wows people to this day.
